Request for Qualifications - Consultant for Research and Implementation of Best Practices in Playgroups
First 5 Monterey County (F5MC) considers playgroups a promising strategy for encouraging and promoting family involvement in children’s early learning. F5MC is seeking a consultant to collaborate with F5MC and F5MC Funded Playgroups to:
1. Research best practices and models for parent-child playgroups supporting children ages 0 – 3.
2. Develop the Framework for F5MC Funded Playgroups for ages 0 - 3 and a plan for implementation of strategies and resources to enhance playgroup quality.
3. Provide on-site coaching and technical assistance/training to support implementation of the quality enhancement strategies.

Special Needs Initiative - Administrative Hubs CGM
First 5 Monterey County (F5MC) is conducting a Community Grant Making (CGM) process to select one or more Special Needs Initiative Administrative Hubs. The Hubs will implement and manage coordinated services and activities as described in this CGM for children ages 0 through 5 with a broad spectrum of special needs in a location identified by F5MC as a Priority Area(s). Following selection of the Hubs F5MC will issue related processes to engage consultants/subcontractors to provide services related to the Initiative.
The Initiative will be implemented over 5 years with an additional 3 month start-up phase to begin April 2010. The total amount for the Initiative will not exceed $680,000 per year for five years with approximately $25,000 additional for the three-month start-up phase for the Hubs.

Request for Qualifications - Coordinator for the Transition to Kindergarten Project
First 5 Monterey County (F5MC) is seeking qualified applicants who will provide coordination of activities and technical assistance for the Transition to Kindergarten Project.
The successful applicant will work in collaboration with F5MC to 1) Increase educators’ knowledge and understanding of Transition to Kindergarten best practices in Monterey County; and 2) decrease parent report of stressful kinder transition experience.

Request for Qualifications - Consultant to provide Technical Assistance for Child Care Settings
First 5 Monterey County (F5MC) is developing a resource bank of qualified consultants to provide technical assistance to support child care quality and inclusion through technical assistance in a variety of early learning and care programs and settings (i.e., Family, Friend and Neighbor Care, Family Child Care and Center-based Child Care). Submissions will be accepted on an on-going basis.
F5MC Technical Assistance (TA) Projects will support child care quality and inclusion through on-site technical assistance that is grounded in best practice research and relationship-based, collaborative work. TA Projects will engage program participants (including administrators, educators/teachers, families and children) in developing/enhancing program quality.

Community Grantmaking (CGM) - Technical Assistance Projects for Child Care Center and Family Child Care ROUND 2
The intent of this Community Grantmaking (CGM) application is to select qualified licensed or license-exempt child care programs (center-based or family child care) to receive technical assistance services that will improve child care quality and support inclusion for children ages 0 to 5 years and their families.
To be eligible applicants must be:
1. Licensed or license-exempt center-based child care programs (in good standing).
OR
2. Agencies or fiscal organizations applying on behalf of 4 to 8 licensed family child care homes (in good standing) that form together into a learning group. Each family child care home must be serving more than 75% non-family members.

Request for Proposal (RFP)Technical Assistance Pilot Project for Family, Friends and Neighbor Child Care Providers
First 5 Monterey County (F5MC) is conducting a RFP process to select a community organization/s to implement a Pilot Project to provide technical assistance to Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) child care providers. The successful applicant will work with F5MC staff and license-exempt FFN providers to develop and implement effective strategies for providing support to FFN providers that combine promising practice research findings with local expertise and resources.
