NEIGHBORHOOD GRANTS
First 5 Monterey County provides funds to the Community Foundation for Monterey County's Neighborhood Grants Program. The goal of the Neighborhood Grants Program is to use existing resources to strengthen the capacity of residents to act cooperatively to improve the well-being, safety and overall quality of life in their neighborhoods. Project objectives include increased community participation and a renewed sense of community identity and vision. First 5 Monterey County funds training and small grants (up to $4,000) for the neighborhood groups working in support of programs focused on children ages 0-5 and their families.
The Neighborhood Grants Program is one of the most popular and successful programs at the Community Foundation. Small grants and workshops are provided to help neighborhood groups throughout Monterey County. Started in 1997 with a grant from the Packard Foundation, the Neighborhood Grants Program is now fully integrated into the ongoing operations of the Community Foundation.
