Now Open: Application for Technical Assistance Projects for Child Care Centers Community Grantmaking Application, Round 11

First 5 Monterey County feels it is important to translate what research tells us into how that works in the day-to-day practice of working with children. This is showcased in our Technical Assistance for Child Care Centers, also known as the TA Project. The TA project works with child care centers by providing consultants trained in best practices and strategies to enhance child care quality.  All staff participate in the projects--including administrators. In addition to on-site support in classrooms, the TA project enhances collaboration, networking, and the development of leadership skills of early educators through various activities. Importantly, the program has shown to improve teachers' understanding of children's interests and needs, shifting from teacher-directed to child-initiated learning and communication and connection among all staff.

We are pleased to announce the release of round 11 of the application to select child care programs to receive technical assistance services that will improve child care quality and support inclusion for children ages 0 to 5 and their families.  The TA Project works closely in alignment with Quality Matters Monterey County and centers may participate in both programs.  Eligible TA applicants are licensed center-based child care programs who are in good standing with California Community Care Licensing. Unlike other funding processes, contact with First 5 employees for questions, clarifications, etc. is strongly advised. The main office phone number is 831-444-8549. The hours of operation are typically 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The main contact person is Lisa Luis, Program Support. Application information will be provided by Beth Reeves-Fortney, Director of Programs.

Application Deadline: Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2019.
