F5MC COVID-19 Updated Website has Community Resources Now!

As we navigate these uncharted waters together, we wanted you to know that F5MC is here to support the health and safety of our community. We are closely monitoring COVID-19 developments as they are released and have recently updated our website based on information we heard the community needs.  Our updated COVID-19 page contains information for families across our county struggling with income loss related to stay-at-home policies, access to food, confusion on immigration supports, or experiencing anxiety or loneliness or simply needing resources during this challenging time.

We would like to extend our gratitude and highlight the importance of child care as an essential service in and of itself for families here in Monterey County. Child care workers play a vital role at all times; during public health emergencies, they enable other essential workers to work knowing their children are safe and healthy. F5MC is working together in a coalition with Bright Beginnings, Child Care Planning Council, United Way, Quality Matters, and early childhood educators to meet the needs of our communities. As a resource for families and providers, please review the Monterey County Child Care website.

We understand that this is a challenging time for everyone and now more than ever it's critical that we continue social connection while maintaining physical distance. Please follow F5MC on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for tips and resources for engaging with your children. Learn More

We are grateful for the bravery, courage and collaborative spirit so prevalent in Monterey County.

We believe that in Monterey County, every person counts. And we believe every person and child should get their fair share. So it is critically important that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census. Every 10 years the U.S. Census Bureau collects data about every person living in the United States. Click "read more" for just a few reasons why your participation in the Census matters. READ MORE

In late February, the Federal Government officially implemented its revised Public Charge Rule, which can be used to deny immigrants green cards or admission to the country if they receive certain public benefits. The new Public Charge policy redefines "public charge" as an immigrant who receives one or more public benefits for more than 12 months over a 36-month period. READ MORE

Now for some great news! On January 30th, Supervisor Chris Lopez and his wife welcomed a healthy baby boy! Teodoro (Teo) Rodolfo Lopez lives in Greenfield and his new favorite pastimes include filling diapers and hanging out with his mom, Jazmin. F5MC sends lots of love and happiness during this new chapter for the growing Lopez family. CONGRATULATIONS, SUPERVISOR LOPEZ! READ MORE

We recently published our 2018-2019 annual report. We hope this document will be a useful summary of last year's accomplishments and this year's goals. In addition, it provides an important look ahead at the budget challenges we will need to confront together. We are deeply grateful for the many individuals and organizations that help us make a difference in the lives of young children and their families in Monterey County. READ MORE
